As you learned in our last Construction Update, more than half of our campus parking lot is now dug-up to make room for an underground storm water management system. It will handle storm water from our parking lot and run-off from the roof of Midway Village (once it gets a roof).
Work was supposed to be completed by Friday, June 21. But the excavators found (unwanted) buried treasure: an old oil storage tank and polluted soil, a legacy of the car dealership that used to be on the site. The excavators also hit a lot of clay which does not absorb storm water. It will have to be replaced with sand. As a result, the completion date for this project has been moved back a week to Friday, June 28.
Until that glorious day, when (what’s left of) our parking lot is full, visitors will have to find on-street parking. We have offered our employees free off-street parking for the month of June in a nearby lot to help improve visitors’ chances of finding a parking space.
Visitors are welcome to park free of charge in the Goodwill/Easter Seals lot directly across University Avenue from our campus. The Goodwill/Easter Seals lot can be accessed from Westbound University or from Fairview Avenue.
Keep watching our web site for Construction Updates. We want to keep you in the loop. We’re all in this together!
