Water Aerobics Create Healthier Lifestyles for Seniors
Transitioning loved ones into a Retirement Community can be very emotional. The majority of elderly individuals feel that their life is declining once they move into a retirement community. One important factor that all families need to consider is the level of involvement that is offered at the community.
According to Livestrong.com, water aerobics exercises for seniors cause less joint impact than land-based exercises such as running. Here at Episcopal Homes, we have recently opened our brand new Warm Water Therapy Pool. Residents at Episcopal Homes have been thrilled with the renewed energy that the water aerobics classes have provided them. Our Aquatics Specialist, Kathleen Meyer, has only had glowing reviews from her water aerobics classes. Beatrice, a resident at Episcopal Homes, joyfully said “The pool is a place where I am relieved of joint pains. I also love how my body feels relaxed and soothed the next day.”
Our Aqua Fitness classes began on March 16, 2015 and are filled every day. We offer Low Intensity, Moderate Intensity, and High-Intensity Water Aerobic classes. These classes focus on breathing, stretching, balance, endurance, and strength. Lee, a resident at Episcopal Homes, expressed her excitement about the pool, “This is my first class and I am just delighted there is a way to exercise that is soothing and strengthening.”
