Kielyn Simonson (Life Enhancement Director), hosted Episcopal Church Home’s First EVER State Fair on Campus. The Nursing Home residents in the Episcopal Church Home community enjoyed fair food, games and live music.
The Episcopal Church Home just launched a new Life Enhancement program at the beginning of September. The Life Enhancement Team just hosted their very first event for their residents, The State Fair at Episcopal Church Home. This State Fair event was a way to signify the start to new and exciting programs for The Episcopal Church Home.
The State Fair Event attracted many residents from all over campus. The turn out was incredible! The Life Enhancement Team hosted the event in one of our many spacious outdoor garden areas.
The State Fair Event had scrumptious fair food such as onion rings, cheese curds, french fries, mini corn dogs and ice cream, prepared by the wonderful and capable Chef Michael Patterson.
Kielyn Simonson stated,“Residents were coming back for seconds and thirds, and were raving about how the food tasted just like they were at the real Minnesota State Fair.”
Even a few of the day care kids from Kinder Village came up to enjoy the food and activities with the residents! The residents enjoyed watching the kids play the carnival games.
The event was matched perfectly with soothing jazz music. Pete Cappello was entertaining the residents with some top jazz and rock and roll hits.
“We had multiple residents volunteer to help out with the carnival games we were setting up too,”Kielyn Simonson exclaimed. There were games like Fishing for Prizes, Ring Toss, and Bean Bag toss. Every winner earned some delicious sweets or a can of pop. “Overall, a great time was had by all, and the weather was perfect,“ Kielyn Simonson said.
Episcopal Church Home had a goal to get as many residents of the Nursing Home engaged with the event as possible. Also, for the residents to enjoy the outside weather, games, and food. Requests have already been placed to the Life Enhancement team to host another State Fair Event next Fall!
