On Thursday, June 4, 2015 residents at Episcopal Homes of Minnesota spent the day on the St. Croix River. Residents were able to enjoy the authentic Paddlewheel Cruise on the scenic St. Croix that departed from the historic port of Stillwater, Minnesota.

Episcopal Homes of Minnesota offers a variety of different outings to residents on a weekly basis. This outing was well attended by about 30 residents and 6 staff members. Family members of the residents were welcomed to join the outing, too.

IMG_1609There were residents from our Independent Living, Memory Care, and Assisted Living communities that attended the River Boat Cruise. The River Boat Cruise was not only accessible for our independent residents but also for residents of any level of independence.

“The day on the St. Croix was a perfect day; delightful in every way,” says Anne Green, a resident at The Terrace at Episcopal Homes of Minnesota. “We are hopefully going to repeat this trip in the fall with the autumn leaves in full color!”

IMG_1700The River Boat Cruise was overall a fantastic outing planned by Iris Park Commons, Life Enhancement Director, Cindy Kinnoin. “I know the residents have gone to Stillwater outings in the past and they loved the scenery; so I decided to plan another boat tour for them this June,” said Life Enhancement Director, Cindy Kinnoin. “I was excited about the high demand of residents that wanted to go on the adventure and was looking forward to going on one with them!”

IMG_1615Each resident that attended only had to pay $10 for the entire excursion on the St. Croix River. The adventure included transportation to and from the event, a full lunch, and a 2-hour boat ride on the Paddlewheel River Boat. The Paddlewheel Boat included three levels, with the top level being a balcony.
