Episcopal Homes of Minnesota and Xccent Fitness Partner to Open Minnesota’s FIRST Motion Wellness System to Improve Senior Health
State-of-the-art indoor play structure is specially designed for senior citizens
Episcopal Homes of Minnesota, in partnership with Xccent Fitness, has opened a new Motion Wellness gym for seniors that features the first-of-its kind indoor play structure designed to reduce the risk of falls.
The Motion Wellness System was developed by Xccent Fitness to improve stability, balance and coordination by using individually designed stations that have been medically proven to reduce falls. Stations consist of equipment for cardio, lower body, upper body, core, and stretch and flex exercises.
“This Motion Wellness System will give our residents and other seniors in our community the opportunity to improve their health,”says Marvin Plakut, CEO of Episcopal Homes of Minnesota. “Research has shown that in addition to fall prevention, physical activity can increase overall fitness, improve cardiovascular health and encourage social interaction, which can also help reduce risks for dementia and depression.”
The Motion Wellness gym is conveniently located at the Episcopal Homes Midway campus in St. Paul, Minn., along the METRO green line off of University Avenue. Membership to the facility is available to any community member aged 55 or older.

Episcopal Homeswill officially open the doors of the new Motion Wellness gym on June 5, 2015. Members of the community are invited to come try out the facility from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Episcopal Homes Midway campus, located at 1860 University Ave St. Paul, MN 55104.
