Episcopal Church Home’s Adopt-A-Household program changes everyone’s lives! The Adopt-A-Household program is a joyous way for a faith community to learn and love and grow with our grandmas and grandpas. Episcopal Church Home is a community of six distinct Households. The goal of each Household is to provide its residents with an empowering lifestyle that closely mirrors living in their own home with family caregivers.
Every week, the residents and staff in each of our Households meet to plan what they want to do in the coming week. This is where your faith community comes in! Congregations are invited to adopt a Household and plan a special event with their Household’s residents and staff every two or three months. Volunteers will have the opportunity to lead events such as bingo, carnival games, arts and crafts, reading, gardening, and service projects.
Currently, faith communities have adopted four of our six Households and another 10 communities are actively in the decision making process. Households can be adopted by more than just one faith community.
Episcopal Homes is proud to have our local faith communities actively involved in the lives of our residents. Building deep relationships between our residents and faith communities will have long-lasting, life-changing benefits for all involved.
Watch for future blogs sharing special stories about our Adopt-A-Household program at Episcopal Church Home and the benefits it is for both residents and volunteers.
