Face Aging Launches 5 Guiding Principles

Face Aging Minnesota is a statewide campaign launched in 2015 by the Long Term Care Imperative, which is partnership of Care Providers Minnesota and Leading Age Minnesota.  The Face Aging Minnesota campaign was launched to raise awareness about the issues that accompany the reality of a rapidly aging society.  Last month Episcopal Homes participated in video interviews to help support their most recent initiative, “Face Aging Principles.  Five principles providing guidance to anyone wanting to help Minnesota Face Aging.”    Episcopal Homes’ residents, family members, and caregivers were interviewed and contributed to Principle #2, “Strong Partnerships.”

The five principles are listed below, but you’re encouraged to learn more at www.faceagingmn.org:

#1 Care & Services

All Minnesota seniors deserve high quality care, housing and support services as they grow older.

Encourage a broad range of services that support seniors as they age and address the economic, geographic and cultural distinctions of Minnesota’s senior population and their caregivers.

#2 Strong Partnerships

We are all in this together.

Caring for one million seniors requires a strong partnership between our seniors, their families, their communities, professional caregivers, and the State of Minnesota.

#3 Age In Place

We all prosper when seniors stay in their communities.

State strategies should encourage the best choices for seniors who seek to age in place for as long as possible, connected to their communities and their families.

#4 Caregiving = Valued Career

Caregiving is a valued career – let’s help our professionals succeed in the jobs they love.

Professional senior care is a critically essential and profoundly rewarding career — we all benefit when senior caregivers have just compensation and opportunities for continuing education and career advancement.

#5 Bold & Innovative

With more than a million seniors, we will need to be bold and innovative.

Seek efficient ways to deliver quality care and manage costs through innovation and helping seniors age at home for as long as possible with the right support.

The piece with the Episcopal Homes’ interviews is tied to their second principle, “Strong Partnerships,”  posted below.
