Episcopal Homes Women in Leadership: Meet Kristin Aitchison

Meet Kristin Aitchison, Creative Ventures Director

How long have you been in your position? Can you tell me a bit about your training/previous positions?

It will be 11 years in early July.  My position started as the part-time events coordinator for independent living buildings but quickly turned into a full-time campus wide position.  I bring a creative way of doing things to Episcopal Homes in terms of event planning experience and programming.  I’ve also been involved in the theatrical world for most of my life and naturally bring a flare of drama wherever I go!

What qualities make a good leader?

I think a good leader has a vision, but at the same time is aware of others, actively listens to opinions and strives to create a space of honesty and trust in order to be open to new ideas.

What are the most important skills you use as a leader?

I have a lot of visions and ideas and I work at including as many different visions and ideas to incorporate as many people as possible in planning and implanting programs that stretch what one thinks is possible!

Please share an accomplishment you are especially proud of:

I’m especially proud of creating programing that folks here at Episcopal Homes never dreamed they’d be a part of.  Most of these examples come from some form of stage performance such as Cabaret and the many theatrical opportunities.  My most recent super fun accomplishment is a full Graffiti Arts class with SPRAYFINGER!

Please share a goal(s) for your area for 2022:

My goal in 2022 is to encourage folks to continue to be brave, whether that’s overcoming our fear of COVID or trying something completely new!  We have a great digital arts program in the works that I’m also excited to get started later this year as well, you’re never too old to learn something new!

A short sentence or two about you personally:

Some describe me as a ball of energy…  My family keep me busy and my love of theater, both in the audience and behind the scenes keep me up way too late at night. (So do my four dogs!)
