Episcopal Homes Women in Leadership: Meet Kire Meyer-Quist

Meet Kire Meyer-Quist, Director of Affordable Housing & Services

How long have you been in your position? Can you tell me a bit about your training/previous positions?

I have been with Episcopal Homes for 21 years and started out as the Housing Manager of Seabury, our first affordable HUD facility.  Throughout my many years here, I have helped with all of our HUD buildings in some way, shape, or form and in many different capacities which leads me to my current position of Director of Affordable Housing & Services.

Besides everything HUD, I have also worked in many other roles to help out where needed, while keeping my current position, as the Becketwood Cooperative Manager and Cornelia House Manager on several occasions.

Prior to coming to Episcopal Homes, I did Program Management for group homes.  And many years ago, I received my bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology.

What qualities make a good leader?

Accountability; empathy; dependability; time management/being able to prioritize; self-awareness; being ethical; authenticity/transparency; and, being able to communicate effectively and efficiently.

What are the most important skills you use as a leader?

Consistency, accountability, and dependability.  Residents and staff alike know exactly who I am and what they can expect from me.  They know I will be there, I will get it done, am always willing to help or will just listen if need be.  I am very passionate about what I am doing which I hope as a leader outwardly shows.

Please share an accomplishment you are especially proud of:

Being able to be an advocate for our seniors and know that I am able to be part of making the last years’ of their lives happy and memorable.  It feels great to know that we as an organization are able to provide such wonderful housing, services and programs to our residents no matter their economic or income status.

Please share a goal(s) for your area for 2022:

One of my goals this year is to help our two off-site buildings, Kings Crossing and Carty Heights become fully staffed and running smoothly.

A short sentence or two about you personally:

I live in Hudson, WI with my husband, Rylan, and our sweet and beautiful 15 (almost 16) year old daughter and our 2 dogs, Lola and Sofia.
