Meet Carol Nelson, RN, Director of Nursing at Iris Park Commons Assisted Living and NeighborCare

How long have you been in your position? Can you tell me a bit about your training?

I started in June 2021. I hit the ground running with the Interim Director of NeighborCare leaving to get married and our other nurse leaving her role for family health concerns. Challenging times working two separate care delivery models, but teamwork showed to be one of the keys to success!

What qualities make a good leader?

Listening, and the ability to create and inspire change when needed

What are the most important skills you use as a leader?

Communication

Please share an accomplishment you are especially proud of:

I am especially proud of the nursing team that has been created in Iris Park. The compassion and dedication amongst our group is very rewarding.

Please share a goal(s) for your area for 2022:   To meet all Minnesota Department of Health requirements

A short sentence or two about you personally:

 I am married and have 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren. I live on a hobby farm and love gardening, riding my horse and playing with my goat.  My favorite place to spend time is in the chicken coop with my ladies.
