Meet Bethany Burns, Director of Community Relations

How long have you been in your position? Can you tell me a bit about your training/previous positions?

I have been with Episcopal Homes since 2016. I started as the resident services coordinator in Iris Park Commons in 2014. I transitioned to the Terrace coordinator when that building opened. Then, I became the Marketing and Events Coordinator in 2015. I started in my present position in 2016.

What qualities make a good leader?

Good communicator, inspiring, integrity, open-mindedness, and flexibility.

What are the most important skills you use as a leader?

Listening and communicating well with others. Being dependable, empathetic, humorous, and positive.

Please share an accomplishment you are especially proud of:

Running 6 half marathons (13.1 miles) in 2021. Each run was in a different state. My goal is to run one in every state!

To have Iris Park Commons hit 100% occupancy

A short sentence or two about you personally:

I am currently training to run my first marathon (26.2 miles) in June – Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth, MN. Otherwise, I love spending my free time outdoors and going on hikes with my dog, Winnie.
