Episcopal Homes actively fosters a culture of learning. We also believe in promoting from within. Our employee Scholarship Fund is a boon to both ends. It allows employees to take classes that they might otherwise not be able to afford, enabling them to earn professional credentials that allow them to move up within our organization and improve the quality of life for themselves and their families.
According to estimates from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) and the Department of Labor (DOL), between 5.7 million to 6.5 million nurses, nurse aides and home health and personal care workers will be needed to care for the 27 million Americans who will require long term care in 2050 – a greater than 100 percent jump from the 13 million Americans who required such care in 2000.
Episcopal Homes of Minnesota is doing its part to bolster the number of qualified nursing staff that will be available to care for our elders. In 2013, Episcopal Homes gave $30,000 towards the professional development and growth of our employees. The vast majority of scholarship money is used to fund nursing assistants who have ambitions to work as a Registered Nurse at Episcopal Church Home.
Our Employee Scholarship Fund is funded entirely by donations from Episcopal Homes’ friends, management, and staff. The more the fund grows, the more employees it can serve – and the better our future residents will be served. If you would like to lend a hand, contact The Foundation at 651-632-8854 or foundation@episcopalhomes.org. There is no such thing as a donation that’s too small. Every dollar makes a difference!
