Residents at Episcopal Homes Volunteered to Clean-up Community
This past Saturday, April 11th, the dog walkers who reside at Episcopal Homes organized a park clean-up. Episcopal Homes of Minnesota is nestled by Midway’s Iris Park in St. Paul. The park is a popular spring and summer location for residents to have picnics or walk their pets.
Since spring has arrived, the residents at Episcopal Homes wanted to clean up their community for the upcoming warmer days to enjoy the beautiful Iris Park. The City of Saint Paul will be improving the North end of Iris Park and fixing the fountain later this summer.
‘The People of The Furry Friends’ are what the residents at Episcopal Homes with pet‘s call themselves. “The park was so littered, and we just wanted to start a clean-up to hopefully begin a chain reaction for people to respect the park in the future, “explained pet owner, Christine Butter, resident of Episcopal Homes.
According to the city of Saint Paul, “Iris Park contains one of the city’s most beautiful artificial ponds with green space along University Avenue.” This is a sacred space for residents at Episcopal Homes and for residents within Saint Paul’s Midway community.
“I volunteered to help out because it was a nice thing to do as a community here at Episcopal Homes,” explained Episcopal Homes resident, Truus Ingebritson. There was about 10-15 volunteers helping pick up Iris Park. The city of Saint Paul donated grabbers and gloves to the residents to help the cleanup process.
The next clean-up is scheduled April 25th to start off in Iris Park and then to begin clean-up around the Episcopal Homes entire campus. This clean-up is projected to bring in a larger crowd of volunteers from the Saint Paul, Midway community.
