2015 NON-PROFIT-OF-THE-YEAR
BY THE MIDWAY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Senior living organization honored for its promotion and contribution to economic growth
Episcopal Homes of Minnesota is proud to announce it has been named 2015 Leadership Award winner – Non-Profit of the Year – by the Midway Chamber of Commerce. The award recognizes Episcopal Homes for its tireless focus on serving the community, as well as its partnerships with for-profit organizations. The Midway Chamber of Commerce Leadership Award honorees were announced at the 2015 annual celebration.
“It is truly an honor to be recognized by the Midway Chamber in this way,” says Marvin Plakut, CEO for Episcopal Homes of Minnesota. “Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for seniors with an affordable continuum of living options, and we have been successfully carrying out this purpose for more than 120 years.”
Episcopal Homes of Minnesota offers a continuum of senior housing options, including short-term transitional care, long-term care, and assisted living. In 2014, Episcopal Homes opened the Terrace at Iris Park and introduced a new concept; catered living. The independent catered living model provides seniors with an expansive list of services that can be added as needed to preserve and enhance independence. The METRO Green Line and revitalized Iris Park have helped the Terrace become the premiere address for active, engaged urban seniors.
In 2015, Episcopal Homes of Minnesota will put the finishing touches on a 45 million dollar expansion at the Midway campus. The expansion features the Gardens, the state’s first Green House model of skilled nursing care designed to look and feel like a private home. It also includes the opening of Kinder Village, an intergenerational childcare program.
“Episcopal Homes of Minnesota is an advocate for not only seniors, but the entire Midway community,” says Sarah Seeger, vice president for the Saint Paul Midway Chamber of Commerce. “The recent growth of the organization has been a catalyst for economic development in the Midway community. The organization is extremely deserving of this honor.”
